There were more big injuries in Week 15. As always, injuries play a crucial role when it comes to constructing our fantasy lineups, especially during playoff time. Here’s the status of players with the most interest to the fantasy community:
Bryce Petty, QB Jets – Petty exited Thursday’s game against the Dolphins in the fourth quarter with a chest injury. He underwent tests and Petty is dealing with a bruise. Petty has a good shot to play this week versus the Patriots where he’ll be started by virtually no one on the planet during Fantasy Super Bowls.
Aaron Rodgers, QB Packers – Rodgers is dealing with a calf injury. He was noticeably hobbling Sunday against the Bears. The good news is he didn’t suffer any setbacks in that game. Rodgers will be all systems go this week when the Packers take on the Vikings.
Melvin Gordon, RB Chargers – Gordon missed Sunday’s game against the Raiders with hip and knee injuries. He’s hoping to return this week for Fantasy Super Bowls in what would be a mouthwatering matchup versus the Browns 31st ranked rush defense. If Gordon can’t go, Kenneth Farrow and Ronnie Hillman will split the backfield touches in his absence. Neither is an attractive fantasy play even in a strong matchup.
Lamar Miller, RB Texans – Miller exited Sunday’s win over the Texans late in the fourth quarter with an ankle injury. He said he’s not worried about missing this week’s game against the Bengals. Miller has been battling injuries all season. He’ll likely suit up but if he can’t play, Akeem Hunt will start in his place.
Theo Riddick, RB Lions – Riddick missed his second straight game with a wrist injury. He didn’t practice all last week, so Riddick should be considered questionable to return against the Cowboys. Dwayne Washington will continue to be the Lions main ball carrier until Riddick returns.
Darren Sproles, RB Eagles – Sproles was held out of Sunday’s game against the Ravens with a concussion. He’s expected to return for Thursday night’s game versus the Giants. Sproles will resume his role as the third-down back with Ryan Mathews dominating early down work.
A.J. Green, WR Bengals – Green missed his third straight game with a hamstring injury after practicing last week. However, Green is expected to return against the Texans baring a setback. The Bengals are out of the playoff hunt, so Green must be 100 percent for the team to put him back on the field. Fire up Green with confidence for Fantasy Super Bowls if he’s active.
Julio Jones, WR Falcons – Jones missed his second straight game Sunday with a sprained toe. Falcons coach Dan Quinn said he thinks Jones will return this week against the Panthers. Jones will go through a full speed test at Wednesday’s practice. If all goes well, he’ll be available to owners for Fantasy Super Bowls.
Terrelle Pryor, WR Browns – Pryor tore ligaments in his finger Sunday. He plans to play through it but Pryor may need surgery after the season. Unfortunately for Pryor owners, he only has five receptions for 22 yards in his last two games since Robert Griffin returned as the starting quarterback.
Adam Thielen, WR Vikings – Thielen left Sunday’s game against the Colts with a neck injury after taking a big hit from Darius Butler. The Vikings didn’t give an update on Thielen’s status but there’s a good chance he’ll miss this week’s game versus the Packers. Stefon Diggs will be in line for more targets if Thielen is out.
