NOTE: These player rankings track a player's value for the remainder of the season and are intended to be used as a tool, not necessarily a definitive guide to player valuation. The scoring system is performance PPR. There is no exact science behind season-long rankings, considering all of the variables and situational uncertainties at work.

Quarterbacks

Cam Newton, Carolina Panthers: The Panthers are in rough shape right now by way of injuries on offense. Newton is rusty and doesn't look quite right. He isn't playable until we see otherwise.

Minnesota Vikings QBs: This will remain fluid und we have any sense of Sam Bradford's prognosis. The way Case Keenum played in Week 3 means Bradford won't be rushed back.

Derek Carr, Oakland Raiders: He had a terrible game, no doubt, but it isn't worth a knee-jerk reaction. The entire Raiders team looked flat and uninspired.

Running backs

There were a lot of obvious moves, like Kareem Hunt going up even farther, topping out at No. 1. The lowering of Isaiah Crowell became a must after three straight awful outings. Much of his 2016 worth came from his role in the passing game, which is on pace to produce half as many receptions this season.

Other more apparent moves included Chris Thompson ascending, as well as Joe Mixon. My hopes for the latter remain tempered, and his ranking is accordingly fluid.

Darren Sproles' removal brings Corey Clement into the rankings and increases Wendell Smallwood, whose role should most closely mimic Sproles'.

Adrian Peterson, New Orleans Saints: He is no longer worth owning and has been lowered dramatically.

Theo Riddick, Detroit Lions: Despite seeing nine targets in Week 3, he didn't produce and failed to log a single rushing attempt. PPR only, as usual, but now with less upside.

Wide receivers

T.Y. Hilton, Indianapolis Colts: Not only did he show some chemistry with Jacoby Brissett in Week 3, but we found out when Andrew Luck is expected to return (Week 6).

Cooper Kupp, Los Angeles Rams: He'll sneak in a quality game here and there, but the expectations have been reset.

Kenny Golladay, Detroit Lions: Talk about a roller coaster. After two TDs in Week 1, the rookie has three total catches.

Brandon Marshall, New York Giants: The timing isn't right with Eli Manning, and after last year's down season with the Jets, one has to wonder what Marshall has left to offer.

Tight ends

Mostly some resetting of expectations and a few minor vertical adjustments. The play of Zach Ertz bumps him into the No. 1 spot. Rob Gronkowski's injury history gives Ertz the slight edge -- same tier, interchangeable.

Hunter Henry, Los Angeles Chargers: Man, this guy is frustrating to play! Last year, his primary value came via eight touchdown grabs as a rookie, which is unheard of for tight ends. This year, he has two goose eggs with a seven-catch day in between.

Tyler Higbee, Los Angeles Rams: He was finally removed. I concede.
