New York Jets TE Jordan Leggett 'needs some work,' according to NJ Advance Media's Connor Hughes, who observed the rookie struggled with technique, route-running and drops in the two practices open to the media last week.

Huddle Up: It's not uncommon for a rookie to struggle with drops in his first few pro practices due to nerves, nor is it surprise Leggett needs fine-tuning with technique and route-running after spending his career in Clemson's spread offense. Leggett's biggest problem in college was bringing the same level of effort in every game. Regardless of his early struggles, he's got a decent chance to start Week 1 with Austin Seferian-Jenkins facing a two-game suspension and virtually no other competition behind him.

New York Jets offensive coordinator John Morton reportedly told rookie TE Jordan Leggett he 'loves' tight ends and wants to make them a 'go-to guy' in his offense.

Huddle Up: Former play-caller Chan Gailey rarely dialed up any plays for his tight ends, as the position has accounted for fewer than 30 targets in each of the last two seasons. Leggett could get an early shot to take advantage with Austin Seferian-Jenkins suspended the first two games, but the Jets' quarterback situation figures to render the point moot. As a result, Seferian-Jenkins and Leggett can be avoided in fantasy.
