Free-agent WR Vincent Jackson (Buccaneers) hopes to continue playing in 2017, and he hinted recently he would like to do so with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. 'I pride myself on being a receiver that not only can stretch the field on the outside one-on-one, but can run those intermediate routes, those third-down routes that can keep drives alive. (Head coach Dirk Koetter) is a very, very smart guy. I?m sure that he would put plenty of work in to put everybody in the best position to be successful. So, you know, there?s a lot of different things I could bring to the table,' Jackson said.

Huddle Up: The Bucs are set on the outside with Mike Evans and DeSean Jackson, while Adam Humphries has emerged as a capable slot. As such, Jackson would likely serve as the top backup to the first two and split slot snaps with Humphries. Even if Jackson returns to Tampa Bay, his days as a useful fantasy receiver are quite possibly over.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Vincent Jackson and the team have met this offseason, though no plans have been revealed about his future. Retirement is a 'possibility,' as he has finished the last two seasons on injured reserve with knee injuries. General manager Jason Licht said 'we'll always want Vincent to be around the organization.'

Huddle Up: As a result of his injuries, the 34-year-old wide-out has missed 17 games over the last two years, after playing in all 48 games prior in his first three seasons with the Bucs. However, at this point in time, it's clear Jackson is near the end, and even if he lands elsewhere, it doesn't seem likely he can be relied upon as a regular fantasy contributor like he has in the past.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers impending free-agent WR Vincent Jackson isn't likely to be back with the team in 2017 and could be finished in the NFL, according to beat writer Scott Reynolds.

Huddle Up: After topping 1,000 yards six times in seven years, Jackson has been limited to just 15 games and 716 yards over the last two years combined. If he plays in 2017, he isn't likely to have any fantasy value.

Updating a previous report, Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Vincent Jackson (knee) does not definitively have a torn anterior cruciate ligament, according to a source. The injury is still being evaluated, but Jackson could return this season if it is determined that the injury is not to the ACL. If the injury is to Jackson's medial collateral ligament, then he may be able to avoid surgery and recover sooner. Jackson will miss at least six weeks and won't be able to play in a game for eight weeks.

Huddle Up: There's a little bit of a silver lining, but Jackson wasn't producing even when he was healthy. Mike Evans will have the lion's share of targets, while Adam Humphries and Cameron Brate will be looked at more often, too. Even Jacquizz Rodgers may be used more in the passing game with Charles Sims on IR. Pick up Humphries or Brate if they're available.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Vincent Jackson (knee) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Tuesday, Oct. 18, with a torn anterior cruciate ligament.

Huddle Up: Jackson wasn't doing much, but it's still a significant loss for the Bucs. Mike Evans will continue to receive the majority of targets, while Adam Humphries should now serve as the No. 2 wide receiver. Humphries was out-producing Jackson before Jackson was injured anyway and should be picked up off waivers immediately if he is available.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Vincent Jackson hauled in three receptions for 36 yards on five targets in the Week 5 game against the Carolina Panthers Monday, Oct. 10.

Huddle Up: Jackson has struggled mightily since coming over to the Bucs, and he is no longer worth using in anything but the deepest of fantasy leagues as long as Mike Evans remains healthy.

  • Posted: 8/9/2016 1:42pm ET

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Vincent Jackson (undisclosed) is out of practice Tuesday, Aug. 9, as a maintenance day and because he's banged up, according to head coach Dirk Koetter.

Huddle Up: Believe it or not, V-Jax is 33 now and entering his 12th NFL season so don't be surprised if his productiveness continues to trend in the wrong direction. Just don't overlook him, though, coming off a season in which he only played 10 games.

  • Posted: 7/12/2016 1:22pm ET

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Vincent Jackson will be used in the slot on a regular basis if WR Donteea Dye, WR Kenny Bell or WR Russell Shepard can play well enough to earn regular time on the outside. If this happens, WR Adam Humphries' snaps will be reduced.

Huddle Up: With a career yards-per-catch average of 17.0, V-Jax always has been more of an outside deep threat, but he's almost certainly lost a step or two at age 33, but he still definitely has the size (6-5, 240 pounds) to be a formidable target over the middle for Jameis Winston.
