Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan went 22-for-36 for 210 yards and one touchdown against the Philadelphia Eagles in the Divisional Round playoff game Saturday, Jan. 13.

Huddle Up: Ryan played well this season but was held to one or fewer touchdown passes in each of his last eight games. He should have most of his weapons back next season and can be a low-end No. 1 fantasy quarterback or a solid backup in all fantasy leagues.

  • Posted: 1/11/2018 11:00am ET

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan (non-injury related) participated fully in practice Thursday, Jan. 11, but is not on the injury report for the Divisional Round playoff game against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Huddle Up: Ryan is good to go for the divisional playoff matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles. He'll need to be at his best in a hostile playoff environment versus an elite defense, but he is a cheaper DFS play on DraftKings.

  • Posted: 1/10/2018 8:47pm ET

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan has completed at least 70 percent of his passes in five straight postseason contests after his performance in the team's Wild Card Round victory Saturday, Jan. 6. Only retired QB Troy Aikman has had a longer such streak in the Super Bowl era.

Huddle Up: Ryan had one of the all-time great postseason runs a year ago, and Matty Ice apparently hasn't cooled off since after his excellent outing last week in Los Angeles. He's also thrown just one interception compared to a whopping 13 touchdowns over this five-game stretch as well. Ryan is one of the safer bets to deploy at QB this weekend in DFS formats, but owners also shouldn't be surprised if the Falcons get extra reliant on their running game in Philadelphia.

  • Posted: 1/10/2018 2:26pm ET

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan (non-injury) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Jan. 10.

Huddle Up: Ryan has been playing well over the last month but has gone eight weeks without throwing at least two touchdowns in a game. He will be facing a solid Philadelphia Eagles defense and can be a low-end No. 1 fantasy quarterback.

  • Posted: 1/9/2018 1:39pm ET

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan (personal) was absent from practice Tuesday, Jan. 9. He was at the team facility for parts of the day, however.

Huddle Up: Ryan will play as long as his personal situation isn't anything too drastic or serious. It's hard to believe he'd miss such a crucial game, especially if he was able to be at the team facility. Coming off a down year, Ryan can be viewed as a high-mid range QB2 heading into 2018.

  • Posted: 1/6/2018 8:52pm ET

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan completed 21 of his 30 passes for 218 yards and a touchdown in a 26-13 win over the Los Angeles Rams Saturday, Jan. 6.

Huddle Up: Ryan didn't post big numbers, but he was efficient as he led the Falcons to the playoff win. If you play fantasy during the postseason, expect some bigger numbers next week when he faces a Philadelphia Eagles defense that struggled down the stretch.

  • Posted: 1/4/2018 3:43pm ET

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan has the third-highest quarterback rating (minimum 150 pass attempts) in NFL history with a 102.4 mark, registering behind only retired QBs Bart Starr (104.8) and Kurt Warner (102.8).

Huddle Up: When it comes to playoff games, there's no question that the 10-year veteran lives up to his 'Matty Ice' moniker despite a 3-5 record in his postseason career. In those eight contests, Ryan has completed 194-of-285 passes (68.1 percent) for 2,244 yards, to go with 18 touchdowns compared to only seven interceptions. He'll be one of the top QB1 options to roll with from the Wild Card weekend slate.

  • Posted: 12/18/2017 9:00pm ET

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan completed 17-of-31 passes for 212 yards and a touchdown in the team's Week 15 win Monday, Dec. 18, opposite the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He also added 29 rushing yards on three attempts.

Huddle Up: It was far from the best that the reigning NFL MVP has to offer, but it wasn't a bad showing either. In fact, it was actually Ryan's highest-rated outing of the month. Still, the 32-year-old has been relatively disappointing for those who invested an early-round pick on his services this year, with too many middle-of-the-road performances such as this one throughout the 2017 campaign.

  • Posted: 12/7/2017 9:10pm ET

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan completed 15 of his 27 passes for 221 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions during the team's Week 14 victory over the New Orleans Saints.

Huddle Up: Ryan channeled Nathan Peterman Thursday night, tossing three picks in the span of four passing attempts. He eventually made enough plays to win, but the end result was arguably his worst statistical performance of 2017. Things should be easier next week versus the lone non-contender in the NFC South, Tampa Bay, who Ryan passed for 317 yards against in the first meeting.

  • Posted: 12/3/2017 1:40pm ET

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan went 16-for-29 for 173 yards against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 13.

Huddle Up: Ryan has thrown for less than 200 yards in two of the last three games but has facing two of the best defenses in the NFL in those games. He will be facing an improved New Orleans Saints defense in Week 14 but can be a low-end No. 1 quarterback in deeper leagues.

  • Posted: 11/26/2017 1:51pm ET

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan went 26-for-35 for 317 yards and one touchdown against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 12.

Huddle Up: Ryan posted only his third 300-yard game of the season this week and has nine touchdowns in the last five games. He will be facing a terrific Minnesota Vikings defense in Week 13 and could be a low-end No. 1 quarterback in most leagues.

  • Posted: 11/21/2017 6:10am ET

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan has thrown nine touchdowns and two interceptions with a 104.9 passer rating over the last five games. He threw six touchdowns and six interceptions with an 87.3 passer rating in the first five games.

Huddle Up: Ryan had a considerable Super Bowl hangover for the early stage of the season, but he has begun to right the ship. It's not the high-end QB1 reputation he earned last season, but with all the injuries and struggles at the position in fantasy, he remains a solid QB1.

  • Posted: 11/20/2017 9:07pm ET

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan completed 19-of-27 passes for 195 yards and two touchdowns in the team's Week 11 win Monday, Nov. 20, against the Seattle Seahawks. He also had three rushes for 12 yards.

Huddle Up: It wasn't his 335-yard, three-touchdown effort in Seattle last year, but this was still an acceptable performance, of course, and it also extended Ryan's streak of having multiple touchdown passes in a game to four. The 10-year veteran hasn't lived up to the lofty expectations he set for himself a year ago when he was crowned league MVP, but he's still enjoying a nice campaign that keeps him in the perennial QB1 conversation.

  • Posted: 11/15/2017 7:02pm ET

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan became the quickest quarterback in NFL history to reach 40,000 passing yards (151 games) with his performance in Week 10 against the Dallas Cowboys, breaking New Orleans Saints QB Drew Brees' record by one game.

Huddle Up: Ryan has had a fine season up to this point, but given the many career bests that he set a year ago, he's also left a little bit more to be desired from owners who invested an early draft pick on the Falcons' veteran signal-caller. For instance, Ryan's 263.6 yards per game is his lowest mark since 2011. Despite this, he's still worth plugging in the lineup every week and could churn out numbers closer to his norm throughout the rest of the second half of the year.

  • Posted: 11/12/2017 8:49pm ET

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan completed 22 of his 29 pass attempts for 215 yards, two touchdowns and one interception in the Week 10 game against the Dallas Cowboys.

Huddle Up: Ryan has still only hooked up with Julio Jones for one touchdown so far this season, and the offense has just looked disjointed for most of the season. Still, if you drafted Ryan you have to roll with him at this point. The Falcons visit the Seahawks on Monday night in Week 11.

  • Posted: 11/5/2017 2:13pm ET

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan completed 24 of his 38 pass attempts for 313 yards, two touchdowns and one interception in Week 9 against the Carolina Panthers.

Huddle Up: Last season it wasn't newsworthy when Ryan went over 300 yards, as he hit the mark six different times, while going for 250 or more yards on 14 total occasions. This season has been a struggle, however, as it is just his second 300-yard game and his fifth 250-yard game in eight outings. Ryan does have one touchdown pass in each of his eight contests in 2017, but Sunday marked just the third multi-TD game. He also has zero games with three or more scoring strikes. He remains a low-end QB1 heading into Wee 10 against the Cowboys.

  • Posted: 10/29/2017 1:17pm ET

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan went 18-for-29 for 254 yards and two touchdowns against the New York Jets in Week 8.

Huddle Up: Ryan was dealing with inclement weather but still posted his biggest passing yard total in four games. He will be facing a solid Carolina Panthers defense in Week 9 but can still be a low-end No. 1 quarterback in some deeper leagues.

  • Posted: 10/23/2017 4:25am ET

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan finished 23-for-33 for 233 yards and one touchdown in a Week 7 loss against the New England Patriots.

Huddle Up: This makes two touchdowns in two games for Ryan. Granted, there was fog later in the game as a built-in excuse, but New England's leaky pass defense still came through. Ryan will attempt a better game in Week 8 against a surprising New York Jets squad.

  • Posted: 10/15/2017 1:57pm ET

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan completed 24 of his 35 pass attempts for 248 yards, one touchdown and one interception in Week 6 against the Miami Dolphins.

Huddle Up: Another week, another game Ryan and Julio Jones have failed to combine for a touchdown. The combination has yet to hook up for a score this season. Matty Ice should have a big game on Sunday night in Week 7 in a Super Bowl rematch with the New England Patriots and their leaky pass defense.

  • Posted: 10/1/2017 4:30pm ET

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan completed 24 of his 42 pass attempts for 242 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions in Week 4 game against the Buffalo Bills.

Huddle Up: Ryan has been a huge disappointment from a fantasy perspective, posting just five touchdown passes with five interceptions through four games and one 300-yard performance. The team has a bye in Week 5, which is much needed considering Ryan lost Julio Jones and Mohamed Sanu to injury in the loss.

  • Posted: 9/24/2017 3:53pm ET

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan threw for 294 yards and two touchdowns but suffered three interceptions Sunday, Sept. 24, in a 30-26 win over the Detroit Lions.

Huddle Up: Ryan did a nice job getting the Falcons off to a solid start but faltered slightly. One of the interceptions was a pick-6 by Glover Quin. Ryan's mistakes didn't cost the team, however, and he should have another strong week as a QB1 against the Buffalo Bills in Week 4.

  • Posted: 9/17/2017 9:30pm ET

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan completed 19 of his 28 passes for 252 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions in Week 2 against the Packers.

Huddle Up: Fantasy owners likely were disappointed in Ryan's performance, as he had over 200 yards passing at half. However, with a rather lopsided score in the third quarter, the team shifted to a run-heavy offense with Devonta Freeman and Tevin Coleman stealing the show. Ryan will look for better results in Week 3 in Detroit.

  • Posted: 9/13/2017 10:05pm ET

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan has faced the Green Bay Packers six times during the regular season in his career, completing 130-of-195 passes (66.7 percent) for 1,427 yards, while logging 13 touchdowns compared to only five interceptions. Additionally, that has also produced his highest quarterback rating (99.7) against any opponent whom he's faced at least five times in his career.

Huddle Up: Those outstanding numbers also don't include his memorable performance last year in the NFC Championship Game, when he was 27-of-38 (71.1 percent) for 392 yards against the Pack, with four touchdowns and zero interceptions -- good for a 139.4 QB rating. In other words, Ryan has Green Bay's number, and that prowess of their defense should be on full display once again in another prime time matchup opposite the Packers on Sunday night.

  • Posted: 9/10/2017 3:33pm ET

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan completed 21 of his 30 pass attempts for 321 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions in Week 1 at Chicago.

Huddle Up: Matty Ice also rushed three times for 11 yards, but fantasy owners might be a tad disappointed with the lack of passing scores. The league's highest-scoring offense had difficulty against what isn't a terribly impressive Bears defense. He'll look for better results in Week 2 at home on Sunday Night Football against the Packers.

  • Posted: 8/26/2017 6:27pm ET

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan completed four of his 11 passes for 36 yards and an interception against the Arizona Cardinals in the preseason Saturday, Aug. 26.

Huddle Up: The odds of Ryan repeating his numbers from last year's MVP campaign are slim, but you don't need to panic over this performance. He might not be a top-five fantasy option at his position, but Ryan should still be able to provide QB1 production.

  • Posted: 8/20/2017 6:33pm ET

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan led a touchdown drive in his only series against the Pittsburgh Steelers in the preseason Sunday, Aug. 20, completing four of his six passes for 57 yards.

Huddle Up: Even without Julio Jones or Devonta Freeman playing, Ryan looked sharp. The Falcons should have one of the top offenses in the NFL again this season, and Ryan can be trusted as a QB1.

  • Posted: 7/19/2017 11:02am ET

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan said he has not started contract extension talks with the Falcons at this point. He said he is not concerned about his next contract but is happy that owner Arthur Blank said Ryan will be compensated for his play.

Huddle Up: Ryan threw for 4,944 yards and 38 touchdowns in 2016 and will have most of his offensive weapons back this season. He will be working with a new offensive coordinator but should be a No. 1 quarterback in most fantasy leagues.

  • Posted: 2/8/2017 4:08pm ET

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan threw for 2,581 yards, 19 touchdowns and four interceptions at home this season while throwing for 2,363 yards, 19 touchdowns and three interceptions on the road.

Huddle Up: Ryan was one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL this season and should have most of his weapons back next season. He should be considered a No. 1 quarterback in all fantasy leagues in 2017.

  • Posted: 2/5/2017 8:07pm ET

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan completed 17 of his 23 passes for 284 yards and two touchdowns in a 34-28 loss to the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LI Sunday, Feb. 5.

Huddle Up: Ryan's solid performance will be forgotten thanks to Atlanta's epic meltdown. Despite the loss, Ryan should still be drafted as a QB1 next year.

  • Posted: 2/5/2017 4:38pm ET

The Baltimore Ravens nearly had a deal in place to trade up for the No. 2 pick in the 2008 NFL Draft in order to select Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan, according to sources, but the deal fell through when Baltimore wouldn't include its 2009 second-round pick.

Huddle Up: It's impossible to know how Ryan's career would have turned out had he landed in Baltimore, and the only thing that matters now is that Ryan is at the helm of one of the most dangerous offenses in the NFL. He looks like a QB1 for the foreseeable future.

  • Posted: 2/4/2017 6:28pm ET

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan was named the 2016 NFL Most Valuable Player by the Associated Press Saturday, Feb. 4.

Huddle Up: Ryan has a chance to add a Super Bowl title to his list of accomplishments this season, and he looks like one of the top fantasy quarterback options heading into 2017.

  • Posted: 2/4/2017 5:18pm ET

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan was the Associated Press Offensive Player of the Year Saturday, Feb. 4. He finished the year with 4,944 passing yards and 38 touchdowns.

Huddle Up: Ryan is the engine that drives Atlanta's high-powered offensive attack, and he should be one of the safest QB1 options in 2017.

  • Posted: 2/3/2017 7:22pm ET

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan will be 'compensated well' for his performance this season, according to owner Arthur Blank, and Blank said he expects Ryan to lead the franchise for a long time.

Huddle Up: Ryan is looking to cap an MVP-caliber season with a Super Bowl win, but regardless of the outcome, he has established himself as a sure-fire QB1 heading into 2017.

  • Posted: 2/2/2017 8:12pm ET

Atlanta Falcons RB Devonta Freeman and RB Tevin Coleman complement each other well and are both 'three-down backs,' according to QB Matt Ryan.

Huddle Up: Both players have established themselves as valuable fantasy contributors. Freeman looks locked in as a RB1, and Coleman is a RB2.

  • Posted: 1/31/2017 8:08pm ET

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan is 0-2 in his career against the New England Patriots. His last meeting opposing them came back in Week 4 of the 2013 season, when the Falcons were defeated, 30-23.

Huddle Up: Of course, it's a small sample size, but it's worth noting that the Patriots are just one of two teams (Pittsburgh Steelers) Ryan has not defeated since entering the league in 2008. Even so, for what it's worth, he's put up solid numbers versus the Pats in those two games, totaling 620 yards and completing 62.2 percent (51-of-82) of his passes. Odds are he'll post similar numbers in what figures to be a high-scoring Super Bowl 51.

  • Posted: 1/31/2017 4:37pm ET

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan is the only quarterback in playoff history to throw for at least three touchdowns in four straight playoff games.

Huddle Up: Ryan is proving that his MVP-worthy regular season was not a fluke. He has led the NFL's most prolific offense into the Super Bowl and has also led fantasy owners to view him as a QB1 for next season. He finished as the QB3 behind Aaron Rodgers and Drew Brees.

  • Posted: 1/24/2017 9:17pm ET

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan has thrown for seven touchdowns and zero interceptions this postseason. The last six quarterbacks to register that many touchdown passes without recording an interception in the playoffs -- Joe Flacco (2012), Drew Brees (2009), Steve Young (1994), Troy Aikman (1992), Joe Montana (1989) and Phil Simms (1986) -- would all go on to win the Super Bowl that season.

Huddle Up: It makes sense, as quarterbacks that are having a dominant playoff run typically keep it going in the big game, especially when there's no weather variable to be concerned with. Then again, this could just be a coincidental trend where the law of averages might get involved and go the other way. Either way, Ryan is a solid bet to finish off his MVP-type season with a bang, and at the very least, there should be plenty of offense when the Patriots and Falcons hook up in a little less than two weeks.

  • Posted: 1/23/2017 2:34pm ET

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan's passer rating is 131.1 when he's in a clean pocket. That's the best rating in the NFL by more than 10 points.

Huddle Up: Ryan is well deserving of the MVP award after his career year in which he threw for nearly 5,000 yards. He and the Falcons were one of the most potent offenses in the league this season and Ryan cemented himself as a low-end QB1 consideration for 2017 fantasy drafts.

  • Posted: 1/22/2017 3:33pm ET

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan completed 27-for-38 passing for 392 yards and four touchdown passes in the NFC Championship Game on Sunday, Jan. 22, against the Green Bay Packers. . He did not throw an interception, and Ryan added a rushing score. His 392 yards rank second all-time in an NFL conference game, behind Ryan's 2012 performance of 396 yards.

Huddle Up: Ryan has vaulted himself into the upper-echelon QB1 conversation for 2017 drafters, but it appears as though he will need to learn a new offense if coordinator Kyle Shanahan indeed takes the San Francisco 49ers' head coach position.

  • Posted: 1/22/2017 6:34am ET

The Atlanta Falcons are expected to discuss a contract extension with QB Matt Ryan during the offseason, even though he still has two years remaining on his current contract, according to multiple sources. A potential extension could make him the highest-paid player in the league, surpassing Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck's deal.

Huddle Up: The 31-year-old Ryan posted career highs in passing yards (4,944) and touchdowns (38) during the 2016 season, while throwing just seven interceptions in 534 attempts. He is one of the leading candidates for the NFL MVP award and should be viewed as an elite option in all fantasy formats.

  • Posted: 1/17/2017 4:21pm ET

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan has six consecutive seasons of at least 4,000 passing yards. That's tied for the second longest streak in NFL history. He posted a franchise record 4,944 yards in 2016.

Huddle Up: Ryan is a big reason why the Falcons are in the NFC title game. He's a top MVP candidate coming off a career season. Regression should be expected next season after such a marvelous campaign, but Ryan is still a QB1 consideration.
