New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski had been thinking about retirement 'long before' the loss in Super Bowl LII, according to Jeff Darlington of ESPN.com.

Huddle Up: This is potentially bad news for anyone hoping Gronkowski was just having an emotional response to the Super Bowl loss. His future remains up in the air at this point, but he would remain the top fantasy tight end if he does play in 2018. The uncertainty could make him a buy-low candidate in dynasty leagues.

  • Posted: 2/8/2018 8:53pm ET

New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski's thoughts about retirement ever since the club's loss in Super Bowl 52 on Sunday, Feb. 4, against the Philadelphia Eagles are 'real,' according to Albert Breer of SI.com. Gronkowski has been responsible with his finances, putting away most of his football money and living largely off his endorsement cash, and he's taken an 'absolute beating' physically.

Huddle Up: While many would be shocked to see Gronk leave the game while still in his prime, he certainly wouldn't be the first superstar-caliber player to opt for retirement at such a golden point in his career, with Calvin Johnson and Patrick Willis being two recent examples. He has plenty of time to think about it, though, with the offseason only just getting started. The 28-year-old would remain the league's No. 1 tight end if he decides to keep playing.

New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski said he is going to take a look at his future, following a 41-33 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LII. 'I'm going to sit down the next couple of weeks, see where I'm at,' Gronkowski said.

Huddle Up: The sting of a tough loss could have played a role in his comments, but it is a situation worth monitoring in the coming weeks. Gronkowski has dealt with a variety of injuries over his career, but when he's on the field, he's the top tight end in the game.

  • Posted: 2/4/2018 8:00pm ET

New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski caught nine passes on 15 targets for 116 yards and two touchdowns in a 41-33 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LII.

Huddle Up: A dominant performance from Gronkowski wasn't enough for the Patriots. Injuries are always a concern for fantasy owners, but his upside is unmatched at the tight end position.

  • Posted: 2/2/2018 1:22pm ET

New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (concussion) fully participated in practice Friday, Feb. 2, and has been removed from the injury report for Super Bowl LII.

Huddle Up: Gronkowski should receive his normal workload against the Philadelphia Eagles after clearing the concussion protocol. Gronkowski should be a No. 1 fantasy tight end in all leagues next season despite his injury history.

  • Posted: 2/1/2018 2:29pm ET

New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (concussion) fully participated in practice Thursday, Feb. 1.

Huddle Up: Gronkowski will play in Super Bowl LII after going through the concussion protocol. He should be considered a No. 1 fantasy tight end whenever he is on the field.

  • Posted: 2/1/2018 1:11pm ET

New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (concussion) has cleared the concussion protocol and will be able to play in Super Bowl LII.

Huddle Up: Gronkowski should be a main part of the passing game against the Philadelphia Eagles as long as he does not suffer a setback. Gronkowski will be a No. 1 tight end in all fantasy leagues in 2018 and could be the first tight end taken in drafts.

  • Posted: 1/31/2018 2:16pm ET

Updating previous reports, New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (concussion) is still in the concussion protocol and has not been cleared to play at this point, according to head coach Bill Belichick.

Huddle Up: Gronkowski still have a few days to be cleared by doctors, so he still has a good chance to play in Super Bowl LII. He is one of the top tight ends in fantasy leagues despite his injury history and will be a must-start option in leagues next season.

  • Posted: 1/31/2018 1:42pm ET

New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (concussion) was a limited practice participant Wednesday, Jan. 31.

Huddle Up: Gronkowski is expected to be good to go for the Super Bowl when he is cleared from the concussion protocol. He has had two weeks to recover from said concussion and should return as an integral part of the Patriots offense. As for 2018, he's the No. 1 fantasy tight end assuming he is fully healthy.

  • Posted: 1/31/2018 5:14am ET

Updating previous reports, New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (concussion) is hoping to be cleared from the concussion protocol Wednesday, Jan. 31. He re-iterated he will play in the Super Bowl.

Huddle Up: Gronk is the best tight end left in playoff pools, but Zach Ertz isn't too far behind to select at a reduced salary in DFS. Gronkowski is expected to see a lot of attention from the Philadelphia Eagles' defense, and the injury risk could make Ertz an attractive play.

  • Posted: 1/29/2018 12:14pm ET

New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (concussion) is expected to clear the concussion protocol in time to play in the SuperBowl, according to Jeff Howe of the Boston Herald.

Huddle Up: Gronk has had nearly two weeks to recover from the concussion he sustained in the AFC Championship. It would be a surprise if he had to sit out unless he suffers a setback. He remains the No. 1 fantasy tight end heading into the offseason.

  • Posted: 1/29/2018 5:12am ET

New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (concussion) remains in the concussion protocol Monday, Jan. 29, and he's not expected to take part in media sessions for the opening night of the Super Bowl.

Huddle Up: He's still expected to be ready to face the Philadelphia Eagles in the Super Bowl and will be a TE1 whenever healthy.

  • Posted: 1/28/2018 12:00pm ET

Updating a previous report, New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (concussion) remains in the concussion protocol even though he has been on the field the last two days. He said he is feeling good after practice.

Huddle Up: Gronkowski should be cleared at some point leading up to Super Bowl LII as long as he does not suffer a setback. He should be considered a No. 1 fantasy tight end whenever he plays.

  • Posted: 1/28/2018 9:36am ET

New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (concussion) is participating in practice Sunday, Jan. 28.

Huddle Up: Gronkowski appears to be on track to play in Super Bowl LII but needs to be cleared by doctors before the game. He is one of the best tight ends in the NFL and should be a No. 1 tight end in all fantasy leagues in 2018.

  • Posted: 1/27/2018 2:24pm ET

Updating a previous report, New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (concussion) is still in the concussion protocol even though he was on the practice field Saturday, Jan. 27.

Huddle Up: Gronkowski will need to be cleared by independent doctors before he is allowed to play. He likely will be the top receiver taken in fantasy drafts next season and should be a valuable player for owners.

  • Posted: 1/27/2018 9:30am ET

New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (concussion) was present at the start of practice Saturday, Jan. 27, according to ESPN's Mike Reiss.

Huddle Up: There was no word on how active he was, but obviously this is the news fans and fantasy owners want to hear more than a week away from the Super Bowl. Stil, Gronkowski is likely to be listed as questionable on the injury report next week and remains in the concussion protocol for now. At this rate, he should be cleared to play sometime during the middle of next week.

  • Posted: 1/26/2018 1:42pm ET

Updating a previous report, New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (concussion) did not participate in practice Friday, Jan. 26. He would have been ruled out if the team played a game this weekend.

Huddle Up: Gronkowski's availability for Super Bowl LII will be determined by his practice participation next week. He is a No. 1 fantasy tight end as long as he is healthy and should be an early-round pick in drafts next season.

  • Posted: 1/26/2018 9:53am ET

New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (concussion) was absent from the media portion of practice Friday, Jan. 26.

Huddle Up: The belief is Gronkowski will play in the Super Bowl. In any lingering fantasy contests, he is an obvious starter if on the field. Long term, Gronk is a fantasy liability, due to injuries, as the top player at his position, though he's a fine risk-reward gamble.

  • Posted: 1/25/2018 5:24pm ET

New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (concussion) appears to be on track to play in Super Bowl 52 on Sunday, Feb. 4, against the Philadelphia Eagles, as the 'overall feel' in the locker room is that he'll be in the lineup when the game kicks off, according to Dianna Russini of ESPN.com.

Huddle Up: While Gronkowski hasn't returned to practice yet since sustaining a concussion in the team's AFC Championship victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars last weekend, he still has more than enough time to pass protocol in order to ensure he'll be active on Super Bowl Sunday. Gronk had actually scored a touchdown in his previous six postseason contests before having to depart early in the last one, so look for him to log some notable stats opposite Philadelphia.

  • Posted: 1/25/2018 1:14pm ET

New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (concussion) did not participate in practice Thursday, Jan. 25.

Huddle Up: The Patriots are optimistic that Gronkowski will be able to play in Super Bowl LII, but owners should monitor his status next week. He is one of the best tight ends in the NFL when he is healthy and should be one of the first tight ends selected in fantasy drafts next season.

  • Posted: 1/25/2018 10:11am ET

New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (concussion) was not able to practice Thursday, Jan. 25.

Huddle Up: Luckily for Gronk he has an additional week to pass the NFL's concussion protocol. It's unlikely that he winds up missing the Super Bowl, but obviously his status will need to be monitored until next weekend. As for next season, Gronk should be the first tight end selected in fantasy drafts assuming he's at full health.

  • Posted: 1/24/2018 1:46pm ET

New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (concussion) was listed as a non-participant in practice Wednesday, Jan. 24. The Patriots did not practice; Gronkowski's status is an estimation.

Huddle Up: Obviously there's plenty of time left for Gronk to pass the NFL's concussion protocol in time for the Super Bowl on Feb. 4. Looking ahead to next season, he should once again be the first fantasy tight end selected if he is fully healthy.

  • Posted: 1/23/2018 3:21pm ET

New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski's (concussion) official status will be unclear for a couple more days, but there is some optimism regarding his availability for the Super Bowl, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Huddle Up: Gronk has a couple of weeks to pass the concussion protocol as opposed to the usual one week or less. Obviously he's a vital part of New England's offense and will play a pivotal role in the Patriots' game plan if he is available. He's the best tight end in football when healthy and should be drafted as such next season.

  • Posted: 1/21/2018 6:14pm ET

Updating a previous report, New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (concussion) has entered the league's mandated concussion protocol, but there is optimism he'll be ready to return for Super Bowl LII against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, Feb. 4.

Huddle Up: Gronk was clocked on a helmet-to-helmet hit in the first half of the AFC Championship Game and unable to return. He has two weeks to shake the cobwebs and get himself ready for the big game.

  • Posted: 1/21/2018 2:22pm ET

Updating previous reports, New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (head) will not return to the AFC Championship game because of his head injury.

Huddle Up: Gronkowski may have suffered a concussion during the game, but owners should know more about his status after the games. He probably would be considered questionable if the team makes it to Super Bowl LII.

  • Posted: 1/21/2018 1:35pm ET

Updating a previous report, New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (head) is considered questionable to return to the AFC Championship game because of a head injury.

Huddle Up: Gronkowski will not return to the game if he is diagnosed with a concussion, so owners will need to monitor the situation. He could return to the game if he is cleared by doctors.

  • Posted: 1/21/2018 1:34pm ET

New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (head) left the AFC Championship game early after suffering a hit to the head and was taken to the locker room.

Huddle Up: Gronkowski likely is being checked for a concussion and would need to be cleared before he is allowed to play again. Owners should monitor the situation during the game.

  • Posted: 1/13/2018 9:29pm ET

New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski caught six passes on nine targets for 81 yards and a touchdown in a 35-14 win over the Tennessee Titans Saturday, Jan. 13.

Huddle Up: As long as Gronkowski stays healthy, you can expect strong lines from him as long as the Patriots stay alive in the postseason.

  • Posted: 12/28/2017 1:26pm ET

New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (illness) did not participate in practice Thursday, Dec. 28.

Huddle Up: Gronkowski should be on the field for Week 17 as long as he can recover from his illness. He is the best tight end in the NFL and is a must-start option if he is active.

  • Posted: 12/24/2017 6:46pm ET

New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski finished with five receptions for 67 yards and a touchdown in Week 16 against the Buffalo Bills on seven targets.

Huddle Up: The Western New York native made his hometown team pay for passing on him in the 2010 NFL Draft, scoring his 12th touchdown in 13 games against the Bills.

  • Posted: 12/17/2017 8:40pm ET

New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski finished with nine receptions for a game-high 168 yards on 13 targets in Week 15 against the Pittsburgh Steelers, his first game since serving a one-game suspension.

Huddle Up: Gronkowski was only off for one week and the suspension appears to have rejuvenated him like a late-season bye week. That's not what the rest of the NFL wanted to see.

  • Posted: 12/5/2017 2:44pm ET

New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski's one-game suspension was upheld Tuesday, Dec. 5.

Huddle Up: Not a surprising outcome. The only real surprise is that Gronk's suspension wasn't longer. In Gronk's absence, Dwayne Allen and Jacob Hollister will man the tight end position, but neither is a legitimate fantasy starting option.

  • Posted: 12/4/2017 12:29pm ET

New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski has been suspended one game for a hit on Buffalo Bills CB Tre'Davious White (concussion) last week. Gronkowski will appeal the suspension.

Huddle Up: This isn't a big surprise to anyone who saw the vicious hit. Jacob Hollister now becomes a sleeper as Gronk's replacement, with Dwayne Allen also demanding attention. That being said, neither deserves to be started. Brandin Cooks, Danny Amendola and Chris Hogan (if he plays) will see more targets, along with any of New England's trio of running backs.

  • Posted: 12/3/2017 1:55pm ET

New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski rolled up nine receptions for a season-high 147 yards on 11 targets in Week 13 against the Buffalo Bills.

Huddle Up: Fantasy owners might be a bit disappointed about the lack of touchdowns, but it's his second consecutive 20-point performance in PPR leagues, which is quite timely at this juncture of the fantasy schedule. He'll look to keep it rolling in Week 14 at Miami on Monday night.

  • Posted: 12/1/2017 7:31pm ET

New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski faces the Buffalo Bills on the road in Week 13, and in six games in Buffalo, he has 35 catches for 583 yards and seven touchdowns.

Huddle Up: Gronkowski is always a must-start TE1 when he is healthy, and his strong history of success in Buffalo could make him worth paying up for in DFS formats, as well.

  • Posted: 11/29/2017 8:00pm ET

New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski recorded his 16th game with multiple touchdown receptions in the team's Week 12 affair Sunday, Nov. 26, versus the Miami Dolphins, breaking the club record that was previously held by retired WR Randy Moss.

Huddle Up: For the season, Gronk now has seven touchdown catches, putting him on pace to register his sixth season with 10 or more touchdowns. Remarkably, the only times he didn't accomplish this feat were when he missed extensive time due to injury. As long as he stays healthy, Gronk continues to prove year in and year out that he's the TE1 to own in pro football.

  • Posted: 11/26/2017 5:04pm ET

New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski finished with five receptions for 82 yards and two touchdowns on a team-high eight targets in Week 12 against the Miami Dolphins.

Huddle Up: Gronk was a little under the weather this week, missing parts of practice, but the illness apparently didn't sap his strength. He posted his second multi-score game of the season and his best yardage total since Week 6 against the Jets.

  • Posted: 11/24/2017 1:51pm ET

New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (illness) was limited during practice Friday, Nov. 24, but is not on the injury report for Week 12.

Huddle Up: Gronkowski should have a big role in the passing game this week and is a must-start option in all fantasy leagues.

  • Posted: 11/24/2017 11:09am ET

New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (illness) told reporters Friday, Nov. 24, he will be ready to play in Week 12 against the Miami Dolphins.

Huddle Up: Gronkowski is coming off a disappointing fantasy effort in Week 11 against the Oakland Raiders, but he'll get another opportunity to remind owners why he's considered the best tight end in the game in another plus-matchup. He remains an elite TE1 play in all formats.

  • Posted: 11/23/2017 1:33pm ET

New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (illness) was limited during practice Thursday, Nov. 23.

Huddle Up: Gronkowski continues to be one of the best tight ends in the NFL and is a must-start option in all leagues as long as he is healthy.

  • Posted: 11/22/2017 1:31pm ET

Updating a previous report, New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (illness) missed practice Wednesday, Nov. 22, due to illness.

Huddle Up: Apparently Gronk is under the weather, so he has a few days to get right. Of course, last week Sterling Shepard was questionable due to illness, which turned out to be migraines, and he was inactive. Gronk isn't out of the woods yet, but there are no reports to suggest this is anything more than just a cold.

  • Posted: 10/15/2017 1:46pm ET

New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski caught six passes for 83 yards and two touchdowns against the New York Jets in Week 6.

Huddle Up: Gronkowski has recorded at least 80 yards in each of the last four games and has four touchdowns during that span. He is one of the best tight ends in the NFL and is a must-start fantasy option as long as he is healthy.

  • Posted: 10/13/2017 5:02pm ET

New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (thigh) said he will be able to play against the New York Jets in Week 6 after missing Week 5.

Huddle Up: Gronkowski has had over a week to recover from his thigh injury and should receive his normal workload. He should be a No. 1 tight end in all leagues when he is healthy.

  • Posted: 10/13/2017 1:57pm ET

New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (thigh) fully participated in practice Friday, Oct. 13, and is not on the injury report for Week 6.

Huddle Up: Gronkowski missed the last game but should receive his normal workload against the New York Jets. He has posted at least 80 yards in each of the last three games and should be a No. 1 tight end in all fantasy leagues.

  • Posted: 10/12/2017 1:51pm ET

New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (thigh) put in a limited practice Thursday, Oct. 12.

Huddle Up: Gronk has had two weeks to recover from his thigh ailment. As long as there aren't any setbacks over the next couple days then Gronk is an automatic start.

  • Posted: 10/11/2017 2:46pm ET

Updating a previous report, New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (thigh) did not take part in practice Wednesday, Oct. 11.

Huddle Up: Despite his absence from practice, all indications are that he'll be ready to play in Sunday's road game against the Jets. New York has allowed just 20 receptions for 204 yards and two touchdowns to opposing tight ends so far, ranking in the Top 10 in the league. However, this is Gronk, and as long as he is on the field he is an elite-level fantasy option.

  • Posted: 10/11/2017 10:20am ET

New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (thigh) suffered a thigh contusion as a result of a leg whip during the team's Week 4 loss to the Carolina Panthers, resulting in his inability to play on a short week in Week 5. However, 'all signs' point toward Gronkowski playing in Week 6 against the New York Jets.

Huddle Up: It appears safe to get Gronkowski back into fantasy lineups this week. As per usual, he is a great bet to deliver elite TE1 production when he is on the field.

  • Posted: 10/10/2017 10:13am ET

New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (thigh) took part in practice Tuesday, Oct. 10.

Huddle Up: Gronkowski was sidelined in Week 5 by a thigh issue he suffered in practice, but this suggests the injury was as minor as was being reported. Barring a similar late-week setback, Gronkowski will be an elite TE1 play yet again versus the New York Jets in Week 6.

  • Posted: 10/5/2017 7:19pm ET

New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (thigh) is expected to be ready to face the New York Jets in Week 6, according to a source.

Huddle Up: Given Gronkowski's injury history, his owners should still have a backup plan in place heading into Week 6. Whenever he is on the field, he is always a must-start TE1.

  • Posted: 10/5/2017 2:35pm ET

New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (thigh) is not expected to play in the team's Week 5 game, according to a source.

Huddle Up: Owners will need to check the inactive list to find out Gronkowski's status, but it seems like they will need to find other options to use in their lineups. Dwayne Allen probably will start at tight end and should have a role in the passing game. He could be a low-end No. 1 tight end in deeper leagues or a flex option.
