New York Jets RB Bilal Powell's production this season is expected to drop 'dramatically,' according to Brian Costello of the New York Post. That's mostly based on Powell likely getting fewer opportunities due to the team adding RB Isaiah Crowell and his anticipated durability. RB Elijah McGuire may also have an increased role as well.

Huddle Up: These are very valid points, as Powell was able to break out in the recent past thanks to injuries to Chris Ivory and Matt Forte. In the case of Crowell, though, the four-year veteran has played in all possible 64 games since entering the NFL, which will absolutely cut into any potential workload for Powell. Thus, owners shouldn't value him too highly this year.

  • Posted: 2/18/2018 6:30pm ET

New York Jets RB Bilal Powell is viewed by the coaching staff as a complementary back, according to Rich Cimini of ESPNNewYork.com.

Huddle Up: There is a good chance Matt Forte will be released, but it sounds like Powell wouldn't see much of an increase in his workload. He should still have value as a potential flex play in PPR formats, but his ceiling appears limited.

  • Posted: 12/24/2017 2:47pm ET

New York Jets RB Bilal Powell rushed for 145 yards and one touchdown on 19 carries against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 16.

Huddle Up: Powell had one of his best games of the season and has recorded a touchdown in three of the last four games. He appears to be the main runner for the Jets and can be a No. 2 running back next week against the New England Patriots.

  • Posted: 12/17/2017 5:57pm ET

New York Jets RB Bilal Powell rushed 13 times for 44 yards and a touchdown in the Week 15 loss against the New Orleans Saints.

Huddle Up: Powell has 10 or more touches in each of the past five outings, but he has been held to 50 or fewer total yards from scrimmage. He is more of a low-end RB3 or flex fantasy option at this point. The Jets host the Chargers in Week 16.

  • Posted: 12/10/2017 7:53pm ET

New York Jets RB Bilal Powell rushed 13 times for 35 yards in a 23-0 loss to the Denver Broncos in Week 14.

Huddle Up: Powell logged more touches than Matt Forte for the second game in a row, but his production has remained lackluster. He will be a shot-in-the-dark flex option in Week 15.

  • Posted: 12/8/2017 3:40pm ET

New York Jets RB Bilal Powell (hamstring) practiced in full Friday, Dec. 8, and he was removed from the injury report ahead of the Week 14 game against the Denver Broncos.

Huddle Up: Powell is ready to face the Broncos. While Denver has a pretty sturdy rush defense, he should be treated as a RB3 or flex fantasy option across most formats.

  • Posted: 12/7/2017 3:59pm ET

New York Jets RB Bilal Powell (hamstring) was a full participant in practice for the second consecutive day Thursday, Dec. 7.

Huddle Up: Powell is coming off a productive outing that saw him log his most rush attempts and first touchdown since Week 4, so he'll be someone to consider deploying in this week's matchup with the Broncos. However, with Matt Forte and Elijah McGuire lurking, he's not the trustiest of FLEX options.

  • Posted: 12/6/2017 3:45pm ET

New York Jets RB Bilal Powell (hamstring) was able to take part in a full practice session Wednesday, Dec. 6.

Huddle Up: Powell looks like he is in good shape for Sunday's Week 14 game against the Broncos, and he faces a favorable matchup against a rushing defense which has allowed the second-most fantasy points to running backs over the past five outings.

  • Posted: 12/5/2017 8:26am ET

New York Jets RB Bilal Powell has a great matchup against the Denver Broncos in Week 14. The Broncos have allowed the second-most points per game to running backs over the last five weeks.

Huddle Up: Powell hasn't been particularly good of late as he has averaged fewer than four yards per carry over the last three weeks. He's worth consideration as a flex play this week.

  • Posted: 12/3/2017 2:45pm ET

New York Jets RB Bilal Powell rushed for 48 yards and one touchdown on 18 carries against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 13.

Huddle Up: Powell received a majority of the carries against the Chiefs but has posted more than 50 rushing yards in only one of the last seven games. He should receive a similar workload next week but can be benched if owners have better options available.

  • Posted: 11/26/2017 6:49pm ET

New York Jets RB Bilal Powell rushed nine times for 34 yards in the Week 12 game against the Carolina Panthers and he added one catch for 12 yards.

Huddle Up: It wasn't great, but he was better than Matt Forte. The veteran managed just 26 yards on 10 carries. The Panthers are a difficult matchup for running backs. Powell will look for better results in Week 13 against the sliding Chiefs.

  • Posted: 11/2/2017 10:30pm ET

New York Jets RB Bilal Powell logged nine carries for 74 yards (8.8 yards per carry) against the Buffalo Bills on Thursday, Nov. 2.

Huddle Up: Despite receiving fewer carries than Matt Forte (14) or Elijah McGuire (13), Powell still managed his second-best output of the season. While he has been making the most of his limited opportunities, Powell is a tough start for fantasy owners who should be leery of his uneven work load.

  • Posted: 10/29/2017 1:53pm ET

New York Jets RB Bilal Powell rushed for 33 yards on 14 carries against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 8. He also caught three passes for 28 yards during the game.

Huddle Up: Powell has been held to under 44 yards rushing in each of the last three games but has been more involved in the passing game. He should receive a similar role next week against the Buffalo Bills and can be a flex option in most fantasy leagues.

  • Posted: 10/22/2017 6:28pm ET

New York Jets RB Bilal Powell ran nine times for 43 yards in Week 7 against the Miami Dolphins and he added two receptions for 40 yards on his two targets.

Huddle Up: Powell and Matt Forte each did a good job in the New York backfield, as the team built a nice lead in the fourth quarter only for the defense to fritter it away. Powell remains a decent RB3 or flex fantasy option heading into Week 8 against the Falcons.

  • Posted: 10/20/2017 12:21pm ET

New York Jets RB Bilal Powell (calf) fully participated in practice Friday, Oct. 20, and is not on the injury report for Week 7.

Huddle Up: Powell should be the starting running back for the Jets this week but will share snaps with Matt Forte and Elijah McGuire. He will be facing a solid Miami Dolphins run defense but can still be a low-end No. 2 running back or a flex option in leagues.

  • Posted: 10/19/2017 11:10am ET

New York Jets RB Bilal Powell (calf) fully participated in practice Thursday, Oct. 19, and will be able to play in Week 7, according to head coach Todd Bowles.

Huddle Up: Powell probably will be the starting running back but will have to share time with Matt Forte and Elijah McGuire. Powell should be involved in the running game and passing game against the Miami Dolphins and can be a flex option for owners.

  • Posted: 10/18/2017 3:05pm ET

New York Jets RB Bilal Powell (calf) was sidelined at practice Wednesday, Oct. 18.

Huddle Up: If Powell keeps missing practice this week then he'll likely be headed for a doubtful designation. In such a case, Matt Forte garners flex appeal in PPR leagues. Elijah McGuire can't be trusted after the dud he put up last week when Powell was out.

  • Posted: 10/15/2017 7:15am ET

New York Jets RB Bilal Powell (calf) has been ruled out for Week 6's game against the New England Patriots, according to multiple sources.

Huddle Up: Powell did not practice at all during the week and was listed as questionable on the injury report, so his deactivation does not come as a surprise. Matt Forte and Elijah McGuire are expected to split carries this afternoon and both merit consideration as flex options in deeper fantasy leagues.

  • Posted: 10/12/2017 11:09am ET

New York Jets RB Bilal Powell (calf) did not participate in practice Thursday, Oct. 12.

Huddle Up: It appears that Powell will miss at least Week 6 because of the injury, but owners should check on his status later in the week. He can be benched if owners have better options for their lineup. Elijah McGuire could receive most of the work at running back and can be a flex option in fantasy leagues.

  • Posted: 10/11/2017 5:10pm ET

New York Jets RB Bilal Powell's (calf) status for Week 6 is still up in the air, according to head coach Todd Bowles.

Huddle Up: Owners should check on Powell's status later in the week to see if he has a chance to play in Week 6. He could be limited if he plays and would not be a great option for owners. Elijah McGuire is in line to receive most of the work if Powell and Matt Forte are ruled out and can be at least a flex option for owners.

  • Posted: 10/9/2017 3:31pm ET

New York Jets RB Bilal Powell (calf) is considered day-to-day because of the strained calf he suffered in Week 5.

Huddle Up: Powell's status for Week 6 is uncertain at this point, so owners should keep an eye on his practice participation. Elijah McGuire would receive significant playing time if Powell is not able to play and could be at least a flex option in fantasy leagues.

  • Posted: 10/8/2017 1:09pm ET

New York Jets RB Bilal Powell (calf) rushed for five yards on two carries against the Cleveland Browns in Week 5. He also caught four passes for 28 yards during the game.

Huddle Up: Powell's status for Week 6 is uncertain at this point, so owners should monitor his situation during the week. He can be a No. 2 running back or flex option if he plays next week, owners should have other options available in case he misses the game.

  • Posted: 10/8/2017 11:48am ET

New York Jets RB Bilal Powell (calf) suffered a calf injury in Week 5 and is considered questionable to return.

Huddle Up: Elijah McGuire will see all of the work at running back if Powell is not able to play. Owners should know more about Powell's injury after the game. McGuire has played well in his limited touches this season and would be at least a flex option if he becomes to No. 1 running back for the Jets.

  • Posted: 10/1/2017 2:40pm ET

New York Jets RB Bilal Powell rushed for 163 yards and one touchdown on 21 carries against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 4. He also caught four passes for 27 yards during the game.

Huddle Up: Powell received most of the work with Matt Forte out and made most of the opportunity. He struggled at times earlier in the season but should receive most of the work at running back moving forward. He should be at least a No. 2 running back for owners next week against the Cleveland Browns.

  • Posted: 9/24/2017 2:44pm ET

New York Jets RB Bilal Powell ran 15 times for 37 yards and scored one touchdown in a 20-6 win over the Miami Dolphins on Sunday, Sept. 24.

Huddle Up: Last week Powell was non-existent, this week Powell led the rushing attack. No one back really stood out for the Jets. Powell is still a risky play because you never know which player will show up, and the Jets are a mixed bag at the RB spot.

  • Posted: 9/17/2017 8:17pm ET

New York Jets RB Bilal Powell finished with six carries for 13 yards and didn't record a catch in a 45-20 loss to the Oakland Raiders in Week 3.

Huddle Up: Powell is off to a slow start, and with Matt Forte earning touches and the offense struggling, you may want to sit Powell against the Dolphins in Week 3.

  • Posted: 9/7/2017 3:30pm ET

New York Jets RB Bilal Powell (ribs) fully participated in practice Thursday, Sept. 7.

Huddle Up: Powell will be the starting running back for the Jets and should receive a majority of the touches at the position. He will also help in the passing game, which makes him valuable in point-per-reception leagues. Powell can be a solid No. 2 back in fantasy leagues.

  • Posted: 9/7/2017 12:54pm ET

New York Jets RB Bilal Powell (ribs) had his second straight day of full practice Thursday, Sept. 7.

Huddle Up: Powell is basically the only offensive hope for the Jets this season. Matt Forte seems to be wearing down and the passing game is a shell of itself compared to 2017. Powell is most valuable in PPR leagues after catching 58 passes a season ago. He's a solid RB2 this week versus a lackluster Buffalo Bills defense.

  • Posted: 9/6/2017 2:36pm ET

New York Jets RB Bilal Powell (ribs) was listed as a full participant in practice Wednesday, Sept. 6.

Huddle Up: Powell appears to be on track to face the Bills in Week 1, and he is expected to split the touches with Matt Forte in the New York backfield. Powell rolled for 122 rushing yards with one receiving score in the regular season finale against the Bills in 2016. He has a little more fantasy appeal in PPR formats, and he'll see enough targets to make him a viable RB2 in those formats.

  • Posted: 8/26/2017 7:33pm ET

New York Jets RB Bilal Powell had seven carries for 32 yards and four receptions for 110 yards and a touchdown in a 32-31 loss to the New York Giants in the preseason Saturday, Aug. 26.

Huddle Up: Powell will likely split carries with Matt Forte, but he should see enough action in the passing game to push for RB2 production in PPR formats. The Jets don't have any proven receivers, and they figure to be trailing a lot this year.

  • Posted: 8/19/2017 7:26pm ET

New York Jets RB Bilal Powell had nine carries for 32 yards and two catches for 14 yards against the Detroit Lions in the preseason Saturday, Aug. 19.

Huddle Up: Powell could end up being the best weapon for a Jets offense lacking much firepower. He figures to be on the receiving end of plenty of dump-offs, and he is a legitimate RB2 candidate in PPR formats.

  • Posted: 8/17/2017 3:38pm ET

New York Jets RB Bilal Powell (neck) will play in the preseason game against the Detroit Lions Saturday, Aug. 19.

Huddle Up: Powell missed some time because of a neck injury but will receive some playing time against the Lions. Powell will be sharing work with Matt Forte this season but should receive a majority of the touches. He can be considered a low-end No. 2 or a No. 3 running back in fantasy leagues.

  • Posted: 8/16/2017 4:06pm ET

New York Jets RB Bilal Powell (neck) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Aug. 16.

Huddle Up: Powell appears to be recovered from his neck injury and could see some playing time in the second preseason game. He probably will see most of the snaps at running back this season and will also be involved in the passing game. Powell can be a low-end No. 2 running back in point-per-receptions leagues.

  • Posted: 8/15/2017 1:43pm ET

New York Jets RB Bilal Powell (neck) participated in 7-on-7 drills Tuesday, Aug. 15, after being absent from practice for about a week and a half.

Huddle Up: Powell is the Jets' running back to own this year, even if Matt Forte is healthy. Powell was a PPR machine in 2016 and there's no reason he can't be the same in 2017, especially in New York's abysmal offense that may be forced to pass a lot.

  • Posted: 8/7/2017 3:35pm ET

New York Jets RB Bilal Powell (neck) did not participate in practice Monday, Aug. 7.

Huddle Up: Owners should keep an eye on the situation to see when Powell will be able to return to the field. Powell and Matt Forte probably will be sharing playing time this season, but Powell could be more involved in the offense because of his receiving ability. Powell can be a low-end No. 2 or a No. 3 running back in leagues.

  • Posted: 8/4/2017 2:47pm ET

New York Jets RB Bilal Powell (chest) left practice early Friday, Aug. 4, because he got the wind knocked out of him, according to head coach Todd Bowles.

Huddle Up: Powell could miss a few days but should be fine moving forward. He should split time with Matt Forte this season and will be used as receiver out of the backfield. Owners should consider Powell as a low-end No. 2 or a No. 3 running back that can also be a weekly flex option.
