San Francisco 49ers WR Deebo Samuel is projected to start opposite WR Dante Pettis, according to NBC Sports' Matt Maiocco, who says the team will slide incumbent starting WR Marquise Goodwin into a smaller role to maximize his speed.

Huddle Up: Rookie receivers typically get overblown, but if Samuel starts in an offense designed by Kyle Shanahan and triggered by Jimmy Garoppolo you'd have to give him some late-round flier consideration.

  • Posted: 12/27/2018 3:48pm ET

San Francisco 49ers WR Marquise Goodwin (calf) didn't practice for the second straight day Thursday, Dec. 27.

Huddle Up: If he plays, Goodwin will have a chance to end his 2018 season on a high note given the lack of playmakers San Francisco has right now with both Matt Breida and Dante Pettis already declared out. If Goodwin can't go, Kendrick Bourne would get a sizable boost and qualify at least as a WR4.

  • Posted: 12/26/2018 11:01am ET

San Francisco 49ers WR Marquise Goodwin (calf, Achilles') is not practicing Wednesday, Dec. 26.

Huddle Up: Dante Pettis isn't playing this week, so Goodwin would ideally see plenty of targets if he were to play. If he is ruled out then George Kittle would be due for even more looks as top-tier TE1.

  • Posted: 12/14/2018 2:48pm ET

San Francisco 49ers WR Marquise Goodwin (calf) was limited in practice Friday, Dec. 14 and he is listed as questionable for the Week 15 game against the Seattle Seahawks.

Huddle Up: Goodwin returned last week for two grabs and 20 yards on his two targets in his return after a month-long absence. He is a risky fantasy option this weekend, so avoid him unless you're in dire straits at the wide receiver position.

  • Posted: 12/13/2018 4:59pm ET

San Francisco 49ers WR Marquise Goodwin (calf) was added to the injury report Thursday, Dec. 13, as he was limited in practice.

Huddle Up: Given Goodwin's injury woes this season, it's concerning to see him added to the injury report in the middle of the week, but at least he was able to practice, suggesting he'll be able to suit up on Sunday. He's somewhere between a WR3 and WR4, though owners should try and roll with someone more consistent for their fantasy postseason matchup.

  • Posted: 12/3/2018 4:59pm ET

San Francisco 49ers WR Marquise Goodwin (personal) rejoined the team Monday, Dec. 3, and is expected to be available for the Week 14 game.

Huddle Up: Goodwin has missed the last two games because of a personal issue but appears to be on track to play against the Denver Broncos. He likely will be the main option in the passing game but may only be a flex option in some leagues.

  • Posted: 11/29/2018 5:28pm ET

San Francisco 49ers WR Marquise Goodwin (personal) did not practice again Thursday, Nov. 29.

Huddle Up: Goodwin looks like he's going to end up being a game-time decision. Even if he does play, though, he's not a recommended play for most leagues.

  • Posted: 11/28/2018 5:10pm ET

San Francisco 49ers WR Marquise Goodwin (personal) was not at practice Wednesday, Nov. 28.

Huddle Up: Goodwin is coming off one of his best games of the year, hauling in four of five targets for 69 yards last Sunday in Tampa. However, his ceiling has been so low this year without Jimmy Garoppolo that he's probably someone to sit even if he does suit up this week.

  • Posted: 11/24/2018 1:52pm ET

San Francisco 49ers WR Marquise Goodwin (non-injury) has been added to the injury report for the Week 12 game because of a personal issue and is listed as doubtful.

Huddle Up: It appears like the 49ers will be without Goodwin and Pierre Garcon this week against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, so Kendrick Bourne, Dante Pettis and Trent Taylor likely will be the main options at receiver for the 49ers. None of the receivers are great fantasy options, but Bourne could be a flex option in some deeper leagues.

  • Posted: 11/13/2018 1:42am ET

San Francisco 49ers WR Marquise Goodwin (head) briefly exited on two occasions in the team's Week 10 game Monday, Nov. 12, opposite the New York Giants. Goodwin initially departed following a catch late in the third quarter due to a hit to the helmet from LB Alec Ogletree. He returned in the beginning of the fourth quarter, and after a pass that deflected off his hands that led to an interception, Goodwin was slow to get up and went back into the medical tent for observation before returning late in the quarter.

Huddle Up: Goodwin actually fared pretty well Monday, amassing his second-highest yardage total (69 yards) of the campaign while tying a season high with five targets. The fact he was able to return to the game in both instances in which he had to exit probably means he won't have to miss any time, especially with the 49ers having their bye week coming up.

  • Posted: 11/12/2018 9:04pm ET

San Francisco 49ers WR Marquise Goodwin caught four passes for 69 yards against the New York Giants in Week 10.

Huddle Up: Goodwin has been targeted at least five times in three of the last five games and has three touchdowns during that span. He will have a favorable matchup in Week 12 and could be a No. 3 receiver or flex option for owners.

  • Posted: 11/1/2018 10:04pm ET

San Francisco 49ers WR Marquise Goodwin caught one pass for 11 yards against the Oakland Raiders Thursday, Nov. 1.

Huddle Up: That's two weeks in a row with just one catch for Goodwin, who has had just one legitimately big game this year. He's the team's top deep threat, though, which gives him boom or bust potential each and every week. He'll look to rebound against the New York Giants in Week 10.

  • Posted: 10/21/2018 8:46pm ET

San Francisco 49ers WR Marquise Goodwin finished with two receptions for 24 yards on five targets in the Week 7 game against the Los Angeles Rams.

Huddle Up: After a breakout game on Monday Night Football in Week 6, he took a big step back in a lopsided loss. He still has some fantasy appeal as a WR4 or flex option heading into Week 8 against the Arizona Cardinals.

  • Posted: 10/19/2018 2:25pm ET

San Francisco 49ers WR Marquise Goodwin (hamstring, quadriceps) fully participated in practice Friday, Oct. 19, and is not on the injury report for Week 7.

Huddle Up: Goodwin is coming off a very productive Week 6 game but will be facing a tougher defense this week. Owners could consider him a No. 3 receiver or a flex option because he should be the main option in the 49ers passing attack.

  • Posted: 10/17/2018 5:06pm ET

San Francisco 49ers WR Marquise Goodwin (hamstring, quadriceps) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Oct. 17.

Huddle Up: Goodwin is coming off a fantastic Week 6 performance but may have to line up against Marcus Peters this week. He can still be a No. 3 receiver or a flex option in some leagues but is a risky option because of the matchup.

  • Posted: 10/15/2018 8:39pm ET

San Francisco 49ers WR Marquise Goodwin posted four receptions for 126 yards and two touchdowns on five targets in the Week 6 game against the Green Bay Packers on Monday, Oct. 15.

Huddle Up: Goodwin had been dealing with a hamstring and thigh injury entering the week, but he certainly didn't look bothered in this one. He entered with five grabs and 54 yards with a TD on nine targets over his first three games, but this breakout performance is sure to get him some fantasy attention heading into Week 7 against the Rams.

  • Posted: 10/13/2018 2:00pm ET

San Francisco 49ers WR Marquise Goodwin (hamstring, quadriceps) practiced in full for a third straight day Saturday, Oct. 13 and he has been removed from the injury report ahead of the Week 6 game against the Green Bay Packers on Monday, Oct. 15.

Huddle Up: Goodwin could potentially lead the receivers corps in targets, as the unit is rather banged up at the moment. Pierre Garcon is a question mark, Trent Taylor is doubtful and Dante Pettis is out. Goodwin has some WR5 potential in fantasy leagues of 12 or more teams.

  • Posted: 10/12/2018 5:19pm ET

San Francisco 49ers WR Marquise Goodwin (hamstring, quadriceps) fully participated in practice Friday, Oct. 12.

Huddle Up: Goodwin appears to be on track to play in Week 6 and could receive a good amount of targets if some of the other receivers are unable to play. Goodwin may be a flex option in some leagues this week.

  • Posted: 10/11/2018 12:56pm ET

San Francisco 49ers WR Marquise Goodwin (hamstring, thigh) was a full practice participant Thursday, Oct. 11.

Huddle Up: Game script will favor Goodwin and the passing game and there is a chance that at least one of Pierre Garcon or George Kittle could be sidelined. Shift Goodwin into a WR3 or flex position either way.

  • Posted: 10/8/2018 7:32pm ET

San Francisco 49ers WR Marquise Goodwin (hamstring, thigh) is a question mark to play in Week 6 against the Green Bay Packers.

Huddle Up: Goodwin has managed just five receptions for 54 yards and a touchdown in three games played this season, and when he returns he'll be working with backup C.J. Beathard. He isn't worth using in most fantasy leagues at this point.

  • Posted: 10/4/2018 4:28pm ET

San Francisco 49ers WR Marquise Goodwin (hamstring, quadriceps) was limited during practice Thursday, Oct. 4.

Huddle Up: Goodwin may have a chance to play in Week 5 but more will be known about his status later in the week. His value has dropped because of the change at quarterback and may only be a flex option in some leagues.

  • Posted: 10/3/2018 5:29pm ET

San Francisco 49ers WR Marquise Goodwin (hamstring, quadriceps) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Oct. 3.

Huddle Up: Goodwin is considered questionable for Week 5, so owners will need to monitor the situation during the week. His value has dropped because of the change at quarterback and could be benched even if he is able to play this week.

  • Posted: 10/1/2018 5:09pm ET

San Francisco 49ers WR Marquise Goodwin (hamstring, thigh) is considered questionable for the Week 5 game.

Huddle Up: Goodwin has only been targeted eight times this season and has recorded only 54 yards. His fantasy value has dropped because of the injury to Jimmy Garoppolo and can be benched even if he is active for Week 5.

  • Posted: 9/30/2018 9:50pm ET

San Francisco 49ers WR Marquise Goodwin turned four targets into two receptions for 24 scoreless yards in Week 4 against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Huddle Up: Unfortunately for owners who spent a middle-round pick on him, this figures to be the norm more than the exception with Jimmy Garoppolo out for the rest of the season. C.J. Beathard performed much better than expected in Week 4, but he's just not as likely to take downfield shots as Garoppolo. While it is far too early to drop Goodwin, he figures to be a WR4 or WR5 moving forward, including Week 5 against the Arizona Cardinals.

  • Posted: 9/27/2018 5:30pm ET

San Francisco 49ers WR Marquise Goodwin (quadriceps) got in a full practice on Thursday, Sept. 27.

Huddle Up: Goodwin returned to action this past Sunday and was solid, recording three catches and a score against the Chiefs. However, he has to be severely downgraded from here on out with Jimmy Garoppolo lost for the season. C.J. Beathard is not the ideal quarterback you want throwing to your fantasy wide-outs.

  • Posted: 9/26/2018 4:37pm ET

San Francisco 49ers WR Marquise Goodwin (quadriceps) was limited during practice Wednesday, Sept. 26.

Huddle Up: Goodwin's fantasy value will take a big hit with Jimmy Garoppolo out for the season, but he will remain the team's top receiver. He will be facing a solid Los Angeles Chargers defense this week and may only be a flex option.

  • Posted: 9/23/2018 3:15pm ET

San Francisco 49ers WR Marquise Goodwin posted three yards on 30 yards with a touchdown on four targets in Week 3 against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Huddle Up: Goodwin was blanked in Week 1, and inactive in Week 2, so this was his first real production for fantasy owners to date. Unfortunately for Goodwin, he might have lost Jimmy Garoppolo to a torn ACL to make Goodwin's immediate fantasy outlook a bit murkier. The 49ers travel to meet the Chargers in Week 4.

  • Posted: 9/23/2018 9:03am ET

San Francisco 49ers WR Marquise Goodwin (quadriceps) is officially active for the team's Week 3 game.

Huddle Up: Goodwin is returning after a one-week absence, but it is not known if he will be limited at all during the game. He will have a favorable matchup this week and can be a No. 3 fantasy receiver.

  • Posted: 9/23/2018 5:27am ET

San Francisco 49ers WR Marquise Goodwin (quadriceps) is considered a game-time decision for Week 3's contest against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Huddle Up: Goodwin was a limited participant in all three of the team's practice sessions during the week and was listed as questionable on the injury report. If he is active, he has a favorable matchup and would warrant consideration as a WR3 or flex option in most fantasy leagues.

  • Posted: 9/21/2018 1:29pm ET

San Francisco 49ers WR Marquise Goodwin (quadriceps) was limited during practice Friday, Sept. 21, and is listed as questionable for Week 3.

Huddle Up: Goodwin appears to have a decent chance to play this week, but owners will need to check the inactive list to make sure. He would have a favorable matchup if he plays and can be a No. 3 fantasy receiver.

  • Posted: 9/20/2018 4:34pm ET

San Francisco 49ers WR Marquise Goodwin (quadriceps) was limited in practice for the second straight day Thursday, Sept. 20.

Huddle Up: Goodwin didn't suit up last week after having to depart the season-opening contest due to injury, but it looks like the 27-year-old is getting closer to returning. If he plays versus the Chiefs, Goodwin can be a fine WR3 option.

  • Posted: 9/19/2018 4:01pm ET

Updating a previous report, San Francisco 49ers WR Marquise Goodwin (quadriceps) was officially limited during practice Wednesday, Sept. 19.

Huddle Up: Goodwin missed the Week 2 game but appears to have a chance to play this week. He would have a favorable matchup if he plays and can be a No. 3 receiver in most leagues.

  • Posted: 9/19/2018 12:54pm ET

San Francisco 49ers WR Marquise Goodwin (quadriceps) will be a limited participant in practice Wednesday, Sept. 19.

Huddle Up: Goodwin is dealing with a quadriceps injury, so he'll take it easy during the week. Circle back around and check his official injury report status on Friday before deciding on him as a fantasy option for Week 3.

  • Posted: 9/16/2018 11:45am ET

San Francisco 49ers WR Marquise Goodwin (quadriceps) is inactive and won't play Sunday Sept. 16, in the Week 2 game against the Detroit Lions.

Huddle Up: Intriguing ookie Dante Pettis is expected to get the start in Goodwin's place and is flex dart-throw if Goodwin owners are out of better options, but Pierre Garcon is really the only Niners wideout who can be trusted in Week 2 fantasy lineups.

  • Posted: 9/14/2018 2:36pm ET

Updating a previous report, San Francisco 49ers WR Marquise Goodwin (quadriceps) did not participate in practice Friday, Sept. 14, and has been ruled out for Week 2.

Huddle Up: Dante Pettis will be starting in place of Goodwin but probably should be avoided in all leagues. Pierre Garcon may be the only 49ers receiver that can be used in fantasy lineups this week.

  • Posted: 9/13/2018 4:25pm ET

San Francisco 49ers WR Marquise Goodwin (quadricep) missed practice for the second straight day Thursday, Sept. 13.

Huddle Up: After logging consecutive missed practices, Goodwin is suddenly looking like he has a good shot of not suiting up on Sunday at home against the Lions. If that is the case, Dante Pettis would get a big boost and start alongside Pierre Garcon, though he'd be more of a WR4.

  • Posted: 9/12/2018 4:41pm ET

San Francisco 49ers WR Marquise Goodwin (quadriceps) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Sept. 12.

Huddle Up: Owners will need to check on Goodwin's status later in the week to see if he has a chance to play in Week 2. He would be a risky option if he is able to play this week but could still be a No. 3 receiver or flex option in some leagues.

  • Posted: 9/10/2018 4:33pm ET

San Francisco 49ers WR Marquise Goodwin (thigh) is considered day-to-day because of a deep thigh bruise he suffered in Week 1.

Huddle Up: Owners will need to monitor Goodwin's practice participation during the week to see if he has a chance to play in Week 2. He would be facing a solid Detroit Lions secondary but could still be a No. 3 fantasy receiver.

  • Posted: 9/9/2018 2:30pm ET

San Francisco 49ers WR Marquise Goodwin (quadriceps) was held without a catch in Week 1 against the Minnesota Vikings and he was targeted just once.

Huddle Up: Goodwin left the game due to a quadriceps injury, although he was able to check back in. He was clearly limited after coming back and rookie Dante Pettis was forced to shoulder a larger load. We'll watch Goodwin's status heading into Week 2 against the Detroit Lions.

  • Posted: 9/9/2018 10:58am ET

San Francisco 49ers WR Marquise Goodwin (quadriceps) suffered a quadriceps injury during the Week 1 game and is considered questionable to return.

Huddle Up: Owners will need to monitor the situation to determine the severity of Goodwin's injury. He is expected to be a valuable target for the 49ers this season but could miss time because of the injury.

  • Posted: 8/25/2018 2:46pm ET

Updating a previous report, San Francisco 49ers WR Marquise Goodwin (hand) returned to the preseason game Saturday, Aug.25, after missing some time because of a hand injury.

Huddle Up: Goodwin should be fine moving forward and can be considered a No. 3 receiver in most fantasy leagues.

  • Posted: 8/25/2018 2:38pm ET

San Francisco 49ers WR Marquise Goodwin (hand) suffered a hand injury during the preseason game Saturday, Aug. 25, and is considered questionable to return.

Huddle Up: Owners should keep an eye on the situation to see the severity of Goodwin's injury. He had a breakout season in 2017 and should be a focal point in the passing game again this season. He should be considered a No. 3 receiver in most fantasy leagues.

  • Posted: 8/18/2018 7:55pm ET

San Francisco 49ers WR Marquise Goodwin caught three passes, including a 40-yard reception, and finished with 61 yards against the Houston Texans in the preseason Saturday, Aug. 18.

Huddle Up: Goodwin showed some chemistry with Jimmy Garoppolo at the end of last season and seems to be picking up where he left off. He has WR3 upside heading into 2018.

  • Posted: 8/14/2018 9:28am ET

San Francisco 49ers WR Marquise Goodwin has continued to establish himself as the team's top receiver and is 'clearly Jimmy Garoppolo's favorite target,' according to ESPN's Nick Wagoner.

Huddle Up: The drumbeat on Goodwin has been steady throughout camp, and owners need to acknowledge 2018 may be his time after he emerged as a top receiver down the stretch last year. He needs to be considered a WR3 with upside.

  • Posted: 8/9/2018 9:19am ET

San Francisco 49ers WR Marquise Goodwin appears to be the unquestioned No. 1 wide receiver to the 49ers.

Huddle Up: Goodwin made strides last year, especially after Pierre Garcon went down, en route to a career-high 962 yards. The speedster is a bona fide sleeper candidate in Kyle Shanahan's up-tempo offense, but he's a better fit in standard formats.

  • Posted: 8/2/2018 5:49pm ET

San Francisco 49ers WR Marquise Goodwin appears to be building a solid chemistry with QB Jimmy Garoppolo during training camp and caught two passes of at least 40 yards during practice Thursday, Aug. 2.

Huddle Up: Goodwin is coming off a solid 2017 season and should continue to have a significant role in the passing game. He has a chance to be a No. 3 receiver in most leagues because of his big-play ability
