Denver Broncos TE Jeff Heuerman is considered to be the 'likely starter' at tight end in 2018, according to Mike Klis of 9News.com. 'I've been fortunate to learn from some older tight ends the last couple of years and I'm ready,' Heuerman said. 'I'm ready to take on that leadership role, that No. 1 role and go from there.'

Huddle Up: With Case Keenum now the starting quarterback in town, tight end could be a position of considerable value after Kyle Rudolph tied for the team-lead last season with eight touchdowns for the Vikings. However, Heuerman doesn't appear to have much potential and can probably be nabbed off the waiver wire after drafts, if desired. Jake Butt probably has the higher ceiling, too.

Denver Broncos TE Jeff Heuerman is entering his third season with the Broncos, although he sat out 2015 with a torn anterior cruciate ligament. General manager John Elway believes 2017 is the year Heuerman needs to break out. 'This would be the year,' Elway said, 'We're waiting for Jeff to make the big step.'

Huddle Up: The Broncos are pretty thin at tight end, but it's hard to be excited about Heuerman given his injury history and lack of production. He can be avoided unless Virgil Green or A.J. Derby is injured.

Denver Broncos TE Jeff Heuerman - a third-round pick in 2015 - is not assured a roster spot, according to general manager John Elway.

Huddle Up: Heuerman flashed a bit toward the end of last season, but the tight end room is getting crowded in Denver. The Broncos like A.J. Derby, drafted Jake Butt in the fifth round and also have Virgil Green in the stable. Heuerman's best bet to secure a roster spot might be to have Butt spend his rookie season on the Reserve/Injured list to fully hear his torn ACL. Either way, he is a long way from fantasy relevance.
