The Rams are only 1-2 in road games and their wildly inconsistent play is more about how teams view them and prepare for them – most know they are going to win. The Seahawks get beaten 28-26 by the Rams and yet the next week the Chiefs are wiping the floor with them 7-34. This is not a good road team at the least and their close losses or wins always happen at home this year. Mostly close losses.
QUARTERBACK : Austin Davis passed for 236 yards and one touchdown in the first meeting with the 49ers. He was sacked five times and threw one interception. Two weeks later and he comes off efforts of only 155 and 160 yards.
RUNNING BACK : Tre Mason’s first game was when the Rams ran for 78 yards on 20 carries using three running backs when the 49ers visited in week six. He gained 40 yards on five runs, then 85 yards and a score on 18 carries against the Seahawks to suggest the Rams were installing their only successful back into a primary role. But last week it was back to the rotation of three and Mason led with just seven carries for 32 yards. That throws all these players back into pile of inconsistent and unreliable fantasy players.
WIDE RECEIVER : Brian Quick is gone for the year with shoulder surgery but no wideout gained more than 39 yards in the previous meeting with the 49ers. Austin Pettis is also gone so of the remaining active wide receivers, they all share the one touchdown that Kenny Britt caught back in week five. No fantasy value here.
TIGHT END : Even their tight ends are on a rotation. Jared Cook produces marginal yardage in most games but more than Lance Kendricks who has scored in four of the last five games. Cook ended with 74 yards on four catches but Kendricks caught the 22-yard touchdown in the game.
MATCH TO THE DEFENSE: This matchup just happened two weeks ago. No reason to expect any improvement by the Rams who are on the road this time and that have lost another wide receiver while forcing the backfield to remain an unproductive rotation to ensure that no one has any fantasy value here. Notable is that the 49ers at home have not allowed a rushing score and held runners to well below 100 yards.

The Broncos ruined a three game winning streak and the 49ers remain two games behind the Cardinals in the NFC West. But coming off their bye helps get the team rested and healthy for the stretch run that won’t be easy. This week and week 12 versus the Redskins are the only two easy games left on the schedule.
QUARTERBACK : Colin Kaepernick continues to be inconsistent though his general trends means showing up against the weaker secondaries with multiple touchdowns and then limited to single scores in the others. Against the Broncos previous to the bye, Kaepernick only managed one score on his 263 passing yards and was sacked six times. His only monster game was when he threw for 343 yards and three touchdowns on the Rams in week six. He added three runs for 37 yards.
RUNNING BACK : Frank Gore is not hard to read. His best three games – by a large margin – all came at home. On the road he has yet to score and averages just 43 yards per game. Carlos Hyde is just relief though he did run in scores in two of the four road games.Gore was held to only 38 yards on 16 carries in St. Louis and Hyde gained only 14 yards on 11 carries.
WIDE RECEIVER : Still mostly a moderate crew and that is only for the totals. Anquan Boldin and Brandon Lloyd both have just one touchdown on the season and marginal yardage in most games. Steve Johnson scored in three of the last four missing only the St. Louis game though his yardage like the rest remains moderate at best.
It was a big passing performance back in week six in St. Louis when Anquan Boldin (7-94, TD), Brandon Lloyd (1-80, TD) and Michael Crabtree (3-49, TD) all scored. It was their only truly decent game of the year.
TIGHT END : Just another horrible season for Vernon Davis who still commands attention from the defenses and with that allows the wide receivers to have more success. Davis last scored in the season opener and has failed to top 39 yards in any game since.
Davis only gained 30 yards on three catches in the previous meeting with the Rams.
MATCH TO THE DEFENSE: This matchup happened just two weeks ago and the only difference between the Rams at home and on the road is that they give up more rushing yards and scores but fewer passing stats because they compete less and the opponent has less need to drive up the score.
