WR Andrew Hawkins 3-20

The Browns end their season on a four game losing streak and with Johnny Hamstring on the sidelin4e. The switch to Johnny Manziel only lasted one embarrassing game but will become the rage again next summer because the fans did not get enough of Manziel to prove he is not a savior. Worse yet after all the waiting, Josh Gordon returned but wasn’t the same electric game changer as 2013. He did play like someone who couldn’t stop smoking weed before getting caught and suspended.

QUARTERBACK : Johnny Manziel is out and Brian Hoyer is questionable at best to play this week because of shoulder and biceps injuries. The Browns may be down to undrafted free agent Connor Shaw as the starter which would only be appropriate for the way the season has gone. Hoyer passed for 290 yards and one score versus the Ravens in week three.

RUNNING BACK : Isaiah Crowell has taken over the running back spot while Terrance West was never used last week in part because of “poor practice” but he’s been on the outs for a few weeks. Crowell ran for 55 yards on 11 carries with one score in the first meeting with the Ravens while West turned in 12 runs for 36 yards and a rushing score as well. Neither back has ever had much role as a receiver.

WIDE RECEIVER : Andrew Hawkins only caught one pass last week and injured his right thumb. His status could be updated later in the week. Hawkins accounted for seen receptions for 87 yards in the first meeting with the Ravens. Miles Austin scored in that game when he had six catches for 51 yards but never scored again and was lost for the season in week 13. Taylor Gabriel only caught two passes but gained 81 yards then. Josh Gordon is new to the matchup for this season but hasn’t scored or made much of any impact on the game.

TIGHT END : Jordan Cameron only caught one pass for 23 yards against the Ravens and scored just twice all year. He’s battled injuries and has just the two decent games. He’s too unreliable for a fantasy start and even less so with the mess at quarterback right now.

MATCH TO THE DEFENSE: The Ravens have only allowed two other rushing scores all year long so chances that the Browns run in two more is very low. This is the best team against the run and makes Crowell a non-starter this week. The situation at quarterback seems to be leaning towards starting Shaw which means none of these players have any reasonable fantasy value this week.

The Ravens have to win this game and hope that the Chargers lose in Kansas City in order to grab the final wild card. Since both teams are playing in early games, the Ravens have every reason to play this game to win. Facing a Browns team that may be without a quarterback only makes it even more likely to be a slid victory.

QUARTERBACK : Joe Flacco passed for 217 yards and one score in Cleveland this year and he;s been good for one or two scores in almost every game this year. His yardage tends to remain moderate but that reflects the success of the rushing game.

RUNNING BACK : Back in week three, Justin Forsett was still mostly a third down journeyman back who ran for 63 yards on 11 carries. Lorenzo Taliaferro ran for 91 yards and a score in that game but has since been completely replaced by Forsett who has turned in a magic year so far. Forsett has been nursing a sore ankle and turned in two sub-par games most recently but should be better in this home meeting with one of the worst road defenses.

WIDE RECEIVER : Steve Smith started the season on a very strong note and even caught five passes for 101 yards in Cleveland. Torrey Smith only managed two receptions for 25 yards then but the roles have largely reversed starting around mid-season. Steve Smith only caught two touchdowns since week six and rarely ended up with more than 50 yards per game. Torrey Smith scored six times in that span and currently has ten touchdowns on the season with around 60 yards in most games.

TIGHT END : The tight end has mattered little this year with Dennis Pitta leaving after week three and Owen Daniels only occasionally showing up as more than just a blocker. To his credit, Daniels four scores were all in home games. The Ravens only completed four passes for 20 yards to the position in the first meeting with the Browns.

MATCH TO THE DEFENSE: This game strongly favors the Ravens who can get a lead, force the Browns to pass and then it all unravels for them. Justin Forsett could have a huge game here if healthy while Flacco and Torrey Smith are only moderate plays. Have to like the Ravens defense in this as well. Joe Haden was out last week with a shoulder injury and if he remains out, Torrey Smith is a much stronger start.
