Player Injury Update: Week 11

By

There were more big injuries in Week 10. As always, injuries play a crucial role when it comes to constructing our fantasy lineups. Here’s the status of players with the most interest to the fantasy community:

Tony Romo, QB Cowboys – Romo has been cleared to return and will back up Dak Prescott in Week 11. Prescott has led the Cowboys to the best record in the NFL but amazingly is still on a short-leash. Prescott gets the Ravens on Sunday. He’s the Cowboys starter on a week-to-week basis.

Trevor Siemian, QB Broncos – Siemian is battling a shoulder injury and received a pain-killing injection before Sunday’s win over the Saints. He gets the Broncos bye week to rest his shoulder but Siemian is dealing with a chronic injury that isn’t going to get better until after the season. There’s a chance rookie Paxton Lynch will be forced to make more starts at some point this year.

Tevin Coleman, RB Falcons – Coleman missed Sunday’s game against the Eagles with a hamstring injury. He hasn’t played since Week 7. The Falcons expect to have Coleman back after their Week 11 bye. Atlanta’s running game hasn’t been as effective without Coleman in the lineup.

Jordan Howard, RB Bears – Bears coach John Fox announced after Sunday’s loss to the Buccaneers that Howard suffered an Achilles’ or ankle injury. Howard later denied Fox’s claim. It’s unknown if Howard is hurt or how badly and the Bears are secretive when it comes to injuries. If Howard can’t play Sunday against the Giants, Ka’Deem Carey and Jeremy Langford will fight for carries in the Bears backfield.

Thomas Rawls, RB Seahawks – Rawls is close to returning from a broken fibula. He got in some limited practice sessions last week. Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said Rawls is practicing this week as if he’s going to play. Rawls will enter a crowded backfield with Christine Michael and impressive rookie C.J. Prosise. He should be active this week against the Eagles.

Travis Benjamin, WR Chargers – Benjamin missed Sunday’s game against the Dolphins with an MCL injury. He’s been trying to play through the injury for a couple of games and with the Chargers on a bye, Benjamin now has a couple of weeks to rest his knee. He should be considered questionable to play in Week 12.

Larry Fitzgerald, WR Cardinals – Fitzgerald had a huge game on Sunday against the 49ers catching 12 balls for 133 yards. His performance is even more impressive considering Fitz’s knee was bothering him. Fitzgerald had an MRI on his knee after the game. Cardinals coach Bruce Arians said Fitzgerald’s knee is sore and he’s day-to-day. Fitzgerald’s practice time will be monitored but he’s expected to play this week against the Vikings.

Will Fuller, WR Texans – Fuller missed Sunday’s game against the Jaguars with a hamstring injury. It was particularly discouraging that Fuller couldn’t play considering the Texans had a bye in Week 9 and he still wasn’t healthy. Fuller is hoping to return Sunday against the Raiders. He should be considered questionable.

DeSean Jackson, WR Redskins – Jackson missed Sunday’s game against the Vikings with a rotator cuff injury. The injury is limiting Jackson’s range of motion. Redskins coach Jay Gruden said Jackson could return this week but he needs to get healthy first. We won’t know his status until much closer to kickoff.

Jeremy Maclin, WR Chiefs – Maclin was inactive Sunday with a groin injury. He tried to play through the injury two weeks ago but left the game early, so it wasn’t surprising that Maclin was inactive against the Panthers. He’s not a lock to return this week versus the Buccaneers. If he can’t go, Tyreek Hill will continue to see more targets.
